All CCM designations will be valid for a period of five (5) years.
With the exception of Community and Honourary Life and Honourary Branch members, CCMs are required to earn at least 120 credits during each five year period following their certification (or most recent recertification) to maintain their CCM designation. Of these 120 credits, 60 must come from education programs through CMAC or CMAA at the national or branch level.
A one-year extension may be granted in each five year maintenance period to those CCMs not meeting the requirements in the allotted time frame. However these extensions are not cumulative, ie the next five year period will commence at the time of the original expiry date. An extension beyond one year will not be granted except at the discretion of the CMAC Board of Directors in the event of exceptionally extenuating circumstances.
The CCM designation may be used as long as membership in CMAC is maintained and provided the maintenance requirements are met. CMAC monitors members' maintenance status in consultation with the CMAC Certification Committee.
See Beyond the CCM - Additional Designations for additional opportunities beyond the certification designation.
