All CCM designations will be valid for a period of five (5) years.
With the exception of Community and Honourary Life and Honourary Branch members, CCMs are required to earn at least 120 credits during each five year period following their certification (or most recent recertification) to maintain their CCM designation. Of these 120 credits, 60 must come from education programs through CMAC or CMAA at the national or branch level.
A one-year extension may be granted in each five year maintenance period to those CCMs not meeting the requirements in the allotted time frame. However these extensions are not cumulative, ie the next five year period will commence at the time of the original expiry date. An extension beyond one year will not be granted except at the discretion of the CMAC Board of Directors in the event of exceptionally extenuating circumstances.
The CCM designation may be used as long as membership in CMAC is maintained and provided the maintenance requirements are met. CMAC monitors members' maintenance status in consultation with the CMAC Certification Committee.
While CMAC will make every effort to maintain an accurate record of each member’s certification credits, it is the responsibility of the individual members to keep track of education and experience credits they have earned. Members may report credits to CMAC at any time. An easy reporting tool is available. In particular, members should report on activity such as committee participation, writing articles, and other education. A table depicting a summary of the allocation of education and association activity credits is available here for easy reference.

Please note the intended timeline for adding credits is within 90 days of an event / CMAC being notified.
PLEASE NOTE: CMAC does not receive notification of any programs completed through CMAA such as BMI courses. CMAC members taking programs through CMAA are responsible for providing CMAC National Office with proof of completion of these courses once they have received confirmation from CMAA.
