The Saskatchewan Branch of the Club Management Association of Canada (CMAC) was formed in 1990 through the efforts of CMAC members who recognized the value of creating a local network for club management professionals in the province. The Branch was established from the former Manitoba/Saskatchewan Branch and has continued to grow through the dedication and involvement of its members.
Throughout its history, the Saskatchewan Branch has been shaped by individuals who made significant contributions to the club management profession. Gerry Hulskorte, manager of Wascana Country Club, and Michael Cox, then manager of the Manitoba Club, were instrumental in establishing the Saskatchewan Branch. In recognition of his efforts, Mr. Hulskorte was named an Honourary Life Member of CMAC upon his retirement from club management in 1992 and remained involved with CMAC and the Saskatchewan Branch until his passing in 2004.
The Branch also recognizes the contributions of Doreen Lusher, a pioneer in club management and a member of CMAC since 1978. Doreen was the first female club manager in the history of CMAC Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon Club, and one of only five female club managers nationally at that time. She managed the Saskatoon Club for 12 years before retiring in 1988 and received Honourary status that same year. Doreen remained actively involved with CMAC Saskatchewan until her passing in 2021.
Today, the Saskatchewan Branch represents a variety of clubs, including university faculty clubs, private clubs, and semi-private golf clubs. Members continue to come together through Branch activities, educational opportunities, and conversations that encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences.
The Saskatchewan Branch was also proud to host the 2022 National Food & Beverage Management Conference in Saskatoon, welcoming club management professionals from across Canada and showcasing the strength of the province’s club community.
The Branch continues to build on its history while supporting the future of club management in Saskatchewan through connection, collaboration, and a commitment to the profession.
