Royal Victoria Yacht Club General Manager Achieves
Internationally Recognized Certified Club Manager Designation
TORONTO, Ontario (May 27, 2021) – The Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM) is delighted to announce that Simon Gatrell, CCM, CMM, Royal Victoria Yacht Club General Manager, has recently attained his designation of Certified Club Manager (CCM) and joins the 79 other CCMs and one MCM in Canada. The CCM designation indicates that a club management professional has completed a rigorous course of study and training and shows a dedication to proficiency and expertise in club management. This will be Mr. Gatrell's second designation, as he is also a Certified Marina Manager (CMM) from the Association of Marine Industries.
The CCM designation is the hallmark of professionalism in club management established by the Club Management Association of America in 1965. The CSCM launched the Certification Program in Canada in 2004. The designation is a valuable, internationally recognized, and widely-respected mark of a manager’s commitment to professional development and the club industry. In order to receive the CCM designation, one must invest time in specified education requirements, attend at least one CSCM National Conference, be a member of the CSCM for a minimum of six years and maintain activity within their local branch. After these conditions have been met, the individual must pass the CCM Exam. Attainment of the CCM title shows a long-term commitment to professional development and club management.

Established in 1957, CSCM is the national professional society representing the club management profession in Canada. Of our approximately 600 members, over 70% are from golf clubs, and the remainder from a variety of city, recreation, fitness, curling and other types of clubs.
The Society’s members hold position titles that include General Manager, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, as well as Assistant Manager, Clubhouse Manager, Controller, and Food and Beverage Manager.
